I’m Mary Ellen Kocopi, a certified life coach, dedicated to coaching mothers who have lost a child to adoption. From the deepest place in my heart, I welcome you. I invite you to linger here for a while to discover the support that is available to you through my coaching.

Have you…

Given up a baby to adoption and buried your pain and grief?
Secretly hungered for relief from your oldest, deepest burden?
Wondered whether you should search, yet are afraid to?
Found your lost child, or been found, and don’t know what to do next?
Reunited and experienced many emotions you weren’t expecting?
You don’t need to face these things alone!

I relinquished my daughter for adoption when I was 16 and spent what seemed like a lifetime attempting to overcome the pain, shame, guilt and anger I didn’t want to face. Some of the thoughts and beliefs that swirled around in my head for years may sound familiar to you…

I thought since I couldn’t change the past and raise my daughter, there was nothing that would help. I gave up my rights a long time ago. I wondered if I somehow deserved to be punished.
Maybe…just maybe… if I could reunite with my daughter, it would be the solution to everything.
Because all records were sealed, I believed I had very little chance of finding my daughter anyway. My past failed search attempts were proof of that.
I feared if I did find her I would be an intrusion in her life and that she would probably hate me. If she wanted me in her life, she would find me.
I expected, if I searched and reunited with my daughter, my entire family would once again, be hurt, embarrassed and ashamed of me.
Sound familiar? It doesn’t have to be this way!

After years of self-recrimination, I finally reunited with the part of myself I had left behind. I learned to love myself…all of who I am. From a place of renewed self-love, healing and acceptance, I also searched for and found my daughter. Together we created a loving relationship that is precious to both of us.

Whether you are pursuing a search or have decided not to, have found and reunited, or have been rejected, a life coach can support you. I encourage you to read about my coaching and how it might serve you. I’d love to chat with you and ask you to accept my gift of a free coaching session so you can get a sense of my coaching and what it is like to be coached. I promise you it will be a good use of your time!
